Spring Rewards Review – Link Your Credit Card & Earn Rewards

Spring Rewards is a program that allows you to link your credit card and earn rewards in addition to the rewards you’d normally earn on your card (a full list of these card-linked programs can be found here). They also power PreIt perks that offers rewards at some malls. You can browse the offers they have here.

Operating Areas

It primarily focuses on stores in Chicago and Nashville. But they operate in the following cities:

  • Austin
  • Indianapolis
  • Cleveland
  • Pheonix
  • Atlanta
  • Charlotte
  • New England
  • Huntsville
  • Nashville
  • San Francisco
  • Chicago
  • Denver
  • Seattle
  • Newark
  • New Orleans
  • Detroit

Note even though the above are the listed cities, not all of those cities will even have offers.

Referral Bonus

You can invite friends to the program and receive $50 in Spring Cash (basically $50 in credit with participating merchants). You’ll need to spend more than $50 to receive the $50 in statement credit for this offer. Please feel free to share your referrals in the comments below, just make sure you provide some useful information regarding the program as well.

The person you refer also receives $50 in Spring Cash.

Our Verdict

Really great program if you live in Chicago, not that great in other cities unfortunately.

Hat tip to readers Will & Libby A for letting us know (their referral code is KHLWIR if you want to say thanks).

$100 online Wells Fargo checking bonus available through 12/16: appears to be nationwide… tried several zip codes – New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, all worked. Requirements are kind of strict but if it is a soft pull like their others this would be a nice offer for those who aren’t able to access a Wells Fargo ATM for the $150/$100 offer in branch.

I’m in Chicago (where they have a nice footprint) and have used Spring Rewards since January 2015 when I noticed a neighborhood restaurant participating. Some useful notes:

    1) Register your card before paying. Unlike RN dining sites, the tracking is instant with a pending charge (and when you add tip, it gets a second tracking).

    2) Register your cards via the website; NOT the mobile app. The mobile app is helpful for searching but cannot properly add cards (even though it looks like it can).

    3) You’ll get nice targeted $5 or $10 in rewards offers periodically that have no minimum spend…I’ve gotten several nearly “free” lunches from this!

    4) Nothing prevents linking the same card to Spring and RN – separate programs.

It is great if you are in Chicago, and I use it several times. Register your card before paying!

So Chicago has both this and Groupon Cashback? On top of rewards network and Mogl that’s better than most cities.

They run the programs for Simon Mall rewards and Preit Perks as well.

One really helpful point is that you can refer others to the platform first, then refer them to individual restaurants after they’ve joined for a gift to them and to you. Not every restaurant offers this, but many of them do.

    few things………..
shopped at simon malls here in chicago area and fully received my 2% back in spring rewards, about 3 months ago.
what I can’t understand is how so many of you get a lot of value out of this deal ??
The rewards that I had were basically, add $10 of credit to xxx store and I’d get $10 off $30 (something like this for all stores). So if I went to that store, no problem I’m guessing seeing that $10 cc refund a few days later. If all I’m doing is buying gift cards for resale, I am getting a $30 for $20, probably selling at roughly 20% discount, so the profit margin is only a couple bucks. That’s lots of effort for $2-3 imho.
I have heard about some MS guys making hay with this program, guessing I haven’t figured it out yet.
I actually had over $200 in Spring rewards that just expired, didn’t want to take the time or long drive to do any of those deals 🙁
