The Fine Print

Transactions include deposits, withdrawals, check writing, POS transaction, account transfers, ACH direct deposit, and bill payment.
  • The $300 cash bonus will be deposited into your QChoice Checking Account within 120 days after account open date if all account and bonus criteria was satisfied.
  • Account Requirements: QChoice requires enrollment in eStatements and minimum monthly direct deposit(s) totaling $1,000 or minimum average daily balance of $5,000 to avoid a $10 monthly fee.
  • All bank account bonuses are treated as income/interest and as such you have to pay taxes on them

Avoiding Fees

There is a $10 monthly fee, this is waived if you’re enrolled in eStatements and have minimum monthly direct deposit(s) totaling $1,000 or minimum average daily balance of $5,000. I found no mention of any early account termination fee in their fee schedule.


To be eligible, must join either 1) American Consumer Council (no fee), or 2) the Select Savers Club ($5 fee, note that Quorum will pay this fee). You can sign up for either of these during the application process.

Quorum membership is established through the creation of a Basic Savings account with a $5 minimum balance. This account is opened automatically and funded with a $5 deposit by us when your application is approved.

Our Verdict

Fantastic offer and it’s nationwide with $2,500 in credit card funding. I don’t see this one lasting long to be honest, we still aren’t 100% sure it’s a soft pull but I suspect it is. Most likely this will be added to our best bank account bonus page.

      Yes you can do that. Also good idea to lower cash advance limit as low as it will go in case this goes through as cash advance.

      I will be attempting it on this card this evening. The rep let me lower the cash advance limit to $750 so if it works we’ll know that it codes as a purchase.

      Have $15K tied up in Chase and Iberia. I treat those accounts like a CD term with a shrug of shoulders.

      Not delighted by a HP but can spare one at the end of the month, I believe.

    Credit pull (especially from Experian) makes this a lousy offer.

    • Eh, number of total credit pulls isn’t a huge factor with Citi, Chase & American Express all restricting bonuses. Also we only have one DP coming from a front line rep that it’s a hard pull currently.

            I’m not sure how that’s related. Between Citi links with no 24 months language, Chase cards that aren’t subject to 5/24, and the many many Amex cards available, it’s still very easy to hit an inquiry wall now.

          • Not everybody has amex cards that they are still eligible for. Are you also doing things to minimize pulls in the first place (e.g multiple apps from issuers that combine and trying to freeze frequently used bureaus?) If hard pulls are an issue for you then I can understand the reluctance but looks like this account wasn’t even a hard pull and $300 + $2,500 in credit card funding is an acceptable return for me even if the checking bonus is taxed.

            Everybody is different though!

    At the bottom of the page it has this fine print. It seems from here that the min. Balance is only needed to avoid the fees. Am I reading this wrong?

    Probably want to check the last 4 digits of your CC at the confirmation page, I put the correct CC in but it shows the last digit truncated. (i.e. xx01234 becomes xx0123 on the last page)

    Not sure if this is a display glitch or a parameter issue with the DB, but hope this doesn’t interfere with the opening deposit.

    Based in Purchase, New York – Any guesses how long this will run? Experian shows FICO due to 15 cards with Christmas action. It could be six weeks before that gets cleaned up.

    Thought I’d just add to the conversation that if you’re willing to forgo the $300, you can alternatively sign up for their free checking and still fund it $2,500 from a credit card.

      That way I still has a shot at getting at least $260.

        I interpreted as having to meet all the requirements, including direct deposit of $1k or maintaining $5k for 3 months to get the bonus. Maybe the direct deposit/avg balance requirement is just for one month? Anyhow, I’m passing on this. The bonus or credit card funding isn’t worth the hassle for some credit union I’ve never heard of, but good luck to others.

    A few points of interest:
    I can’t find the offer link from their website.
    CU has been in business for 80 years.
    Total # members was 78,032 as of 9/30/16
    Total assets were $928 million as of 9/30/16
    Capital to assets ratio is 7.03% (not bad but well below CU peer avg of 10.82%)
    Over 4% of their loans were 60 or more days past due (Avg for all CUs is 0.68%)
    They lost money in Q1, Q2 & Q3 of 2016 to the tune of $6.88 million

    Just applied after lowering my Citi – Double Cash card CA limit to $1 via live chat.

    I am signed up for credit alerts through Experian, ProtectMyID and Credit Karma. I did not receive any notification yet of any credit pull. This might not occur until they review the application though so crossing fingers…

    NVM, spoke with CSR and he recommended just applying again b/c my SSN wasn’t in their system. Applied again and went to the normal pending page. A couple observations/notes…
    1) as mentioned previously, on the last page where it lists the summary of all info, the last 4 digits of the credit card it had listed was actually missing the last digit (so it looked like digits 12-15 instead of digits 13-16). This was only evident after the second time I submitted, so I didn’t have a chance to ask the CSR about it.
    2) CSR said that since I was a brand new applicant it was a hard pull from experian. Haven’t checked that to be true, but I’ll assume it to be true

      They probably leave off the last digit for security purposes or something. Not sure what else we could do about this? I am fine if its indeed a Experian pull for $300 + $50 CC funding (double cash). Just hoping I get approved.

      I confirm the Experian hard pull: CSR told me just now that the new membership application triggers the hard pull from Experian. And you have to become a member as part of the path to opening the checking account.

      Go on a shopping spree at high end stores. Should be easy to hit $15k. You can also order an expensive item from with amex and then return it for cash at the warehouse since only online accepts non visa cards and they’ll refund other purchases in cash, but I personally wouldn’t do this since I value my relationship with Costco too much.

            The very problem is that people like you don’t see a difference in the first place and its honestly disturbing.

            Capitalizing on deals such as credit card bonuses and bank bonuses are in many cases once per year or lifetime and in many cases cause conversions that actually stick (banks are still getting something back and you may keep the card).

            You returning items to Costco is comparing apples and oranges and if you can’t see that then I’m sorry there’s nothing more I can add as it would just be a waste of time. But go ahead, commit fraud with premeditated returns for financial gain and justify it by comparing it to that of MS and churning.

      Dont think anyone knows.. i am going to attempt 1k transfer from ally and 1k from discover monthly, hoping one of those works. This is all assuming the account gets approved. Lots of uncertainty’s. At least this is to avoid the $10 fee, the actual bonus requirements should be easy with automation.

        It’s a financial institution backed by the government. They have to meet a lot of regulations and be compliant which means verifying your address and all your information and ID. They have to save their asses from frauds and audits, they’re not just trying to fuck with us lol

    Just got off the phone with them and they said it could take longer than 2 business days to receive approval confirmation due to the applicant volume for this promo. And my CC has not been charged, yet, for the opening deposit.

      That’s what I expected. For me that’s a little bit of a problem because I’m trying to fund with a brand new card, and I’m expecting Citi to squash the transaction as potentially fraudulent. I called to tell them to expect a $2500 charge, but whatever code they put into the system to make sure the transaction is approved will expire tomorrow. I’ll have to keep calling to extend it every day or every other day until the application is processed.

    I used my Citi Platinum AA MC to fund this account. Beforehand, I tried to change the cash advance to zero, but Citi stated it cannot go below $750 for this card. Since I funded the account with $2500, anyone have an idea of what might happen? Or will it fund as a purchase? (fingers crossed) Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

    Spoke to CSR. Requires $5000 daily balance or $1000 DD. If a $10 service fee is charged there will be no bonus.

        While the monthly fee doesn’t have anything to do with the bonus requirements. You are required to maintain a 5k average or 1k monthly DD to receive the bonus. If you don’t you also will be charged a monthly fee.
        I was hoping I could get away with not maintaining 5k, sign up for e-statements, do required debit transactions, pay $10 monthly fee and get the $300 bonus. Net $260. CSR confirmed this will not work.

            I didn’t spell it out to CSR as I did here. As discussed previously in this thread the terms strongly implied that the min. balance was a requirement. i also didn’t call to ask the question. I called about something else and asked whether the debit transactions would be enough or I needed 5k. I was told I needed 5k. I don’t think asking for requirements is the same as exposing a known loophole. If I truly killed it, sorry. BTW calling accomplished my not opening another account elsewhere because I know in need to tie down 5k. Not sure what deal I killed. The bonus is available to everyone exactly as described in the offer.

    Spoke to CSR. My application was rejected. They said they’d send reasons in the mail, I didn’t ask. Can’t imagine why, other than perhaps Chex inquiries. I’ve probably opened over 20 bank accounts the past two years, don’t know.

    First rejection on a bank account since Bank of the West, who also pulled Experian as part of their app review.

    I applied last night and got a call from a CSR this afternoon. She wanted to verify my personal details (name, address, phone number, etc.). Then she asked how I had heard about Quorum, I said I heard about it from a colleague. I didn’t expect her to ask for a name, since I didn’t know anyone else, I just made up a name. She jotted it down and said my application is still pending and I will be notified in mail when/if it gets approved. The phone call was a bit strange, or maybe it was just the way the CSR was asking me questions. Anyway, I’ll report back if I get approved. I also funded it with my Fidelity Rewards Visa, so will see if it goes through as a purchase.

    My online application went to pending. I called in after a couple of days and they told me I had been denied and would get a letter with the reason. First time I’ve ever been denied a deposit account — I should only have about 6 recent Chex inquiries.

      Uh oh. I’m in the same boat. I won’t bother calling. I jumped on a lot of small bank offers last year because I didn’t see any reason not to. I guess this is the risk — if you chase small offers, you’ll have too many Chex inquiries and won’t be approved when there are bigger offers like this one.

    Tried to get credit card funding working tonight, but keeps clearing the fields after pressing “continue” button. I tried 2 Chase, and 1 Citi card; all failed w/o error mesage. Called Chase, said no block exists or fraud alerts – Had previously lowered my CA limit on all these cards and have to wonder if that is where the problem lies. But I even tried amounts below my CA limit to see what would happen – no dice. Had Chase add a note to account to expect large transaction. Then called Quorum. CSR was not aware of any issues with website, but regular business hours to have IT dept check website. If that proves useless, might apply w/o CC funding, just to get my name in the pot before the offer gets pulled.

    Anyone else having issues w/ CC funding screen?

      And another thing, it seems odd it asks for account funding on the 3rd screen, BEFORE any real data input. Someone above mentions CC funding on the LAST screen. I am guessing they are screwing around with their setup?

    I think they might have disabled credit card funding.
    I’ve typed in my CC info and input $2500 in the amount section but when I click on proceed I get a loading message and it sorts of refresh the page erasing the information I’ve entered. Anyone else with this issue?

    Called a CSR before applying online. He said there is as much as a 5-DAY backlog between applying online and hearing something… Wow! I applied anyway, about 7:25 PM Central.

    Cannot offer any input about CC funding because I chose to just do ACH from existing checking. The website seemed slow, but operational. Got the typical message “Your application has been submitted.

    Question – has anyone been approved immediately for this?

      5 days… that’s nothing. Try 3 weeks for HSBC. I imagine their account approval process is not very automated, and very possible a printed application package goes from desk to desk to get approved. Just hope they don’t get tired of the backlog and shut down the promo.

        Believe it or not, 3 weeks for HSBC’s offer was short. I applied to HSBC for both me and my wife. I was rejected immediately (likely too many Chex inquiries). My wife heard nothing . . . and then got a call after 3 months! I kid you not.

          WOW – 3 months? Were they still going to honor the promo at that point? My SO and I were proactive and called them weekly to request a status – both took about 3 weeks and were spaced about a month apart.

Kind of stupid because I probably was leaving $300 on the table, but my wife hates calling in for stuff like this, and I was annoyed so just wanted to move on to the next opportunity.

    I applied Tuesday morning Jan 17th. The first few times it timed out when I got to the second page. It worked on the fourth try. You should see how quickly I did it with practice ! I selected the option to fund it later. By the end of the day Thursday I have never received an email from them. By the way, I previously saw this CU listed on in the article “9 best 0%APR Credit Card Offers – January 2017”

      You’ll soon get an email saying you’re approved and receiving free checks and a Debit card in 5-7 business days. That’s how it happened for me. They’ll provide their routing # in the email, but you won’t get your 14-digit acct # until the checks arrive.

      Congrats. Yeah, sometime between the 18th & 19th the CC funding stopped working – it’s not browser dependent. I think the CC churners of the Internet broke the “machine” and Quorum shut it down. Very jealous… because now I am in limbo.

          How many recent bank accounts have you opened?

          Giving away sign-up money to a customer that has multiple recent accounts is a risk to their longevity, I suppose. They aren’t a large bank like Chase, Citi, etc. The bonus is supposed to make you feel obligated to stay – kind of like when you get a gift from a person, you usually give a gift.

          I would assume I am like you, many bank accounts, high credit score, but if a bank sets a policy of “X” number of inquires, then I am out of the running. Only one bank turned me down so far, and said they said the main reason I was denied was because I was out of their service area. Not sure that was true, because nobody else posted their experiences with that particular bank here.

          To all, please share your experiences with these banks… and give an idea of how many accounts you have had recently, if you think that was the disqualifier. Did you call the new accounts department to get more details?

          One thing I noticed is that smaller banks tend to use Chex, and large banks use EWS; most do not do both. Unlike credit reports from the big 3 (EX, EQ, TU), Chex and EWS are not mirrors of each other. That means probably only about half of your new accounts are showing when they pull their chosen report. Doc has posts on both, and I provided my input when I pulled my Chex and EWS reports to keep the info fresh. Please contribute.

            @Charles – See, WF doesn’t use Chex, they use EWS; not sure abt Regions. But if your 6 got you booted, I am sure they will be printing my letter shortly. I have about 2 per month on my Chex since mid-last year. I am going to stay positive, and maybe it will help that I gave them a nice fat opening deposit.

      No data point here but I’m in the same boat. $300 pre-tax bonus, $2.5k CC points/rewards and the ability to take a huge chunk out of minimum spend needed was enough to get me to jump in despite the assumption of a hard pull. No extra card on my CC report, no impact to AAOA and easier bonus requirements (than CC minimum spend).

      Everyone is different but another way to ask yourself is are you OK if this deal ends and/or they kill CC funding? Because I don’t expect it to last and possibly might end before data points roll in.

    My barclaycard arrival plus was used for the max 2500. When I log on to barclaycard it is showing me 55,000 points earned which is 2.2%. Anyone else have this happen to them? I’m assuming since I received points it did not code as a cash advance

      Actually, that’s 22%. Sounds like you hit the min spend on your Barclay Arrival Plus, and earned 2 points per dollar on the 2500 as well. 50,000 from bonus, 2500(2)=5000 from purchase.

      And yes, if you got points, it coded as a purchase, NOT as a CA. Congrats!

I’m sure others will run into this as well and since it’s part of the keeping the account fee-free DoC might want to update the post to allow a few days before attempting to sign up for e-statements.

      You might just be a little early to find any data points. If you needed to send in documents, your application took that much longer to process. I didn’t even find out I needed documents until I called in a week after applying, no emails or anything sent. So anyone who needed documents and got denied took longer to receive the news since those who got approved seem to be getting emails, and those who were denied have to wait for a letter in the mail.

      I likely have ~8 Chex inquiries in the last 24 months, and from the looks of it, I’ll probably be denied.

    If anyone was having a hard time finding how to enroll in eStatements…

    After being logged in go to “Accounts”->”Banking Statements” tab -> “Settings” tab -> “Notification Opt-in/Opt-out” -> “Yes” -> submit.

    Also, there is a 30 day grace period for meeting the $5,000 total in order to meet the $5k monthly balance to keep it fee free. I was concerned b/c you can only load, initially, with $2.5k and I thought I’d have to put >$5k into the account to meet the requirement the first month. But I was wrong. You’ve got 30 days to get the remaining balance up to $5k.

Applied the evening of Tuesday the 17th, got a request to send DL and utility bill on the 20th, sent them in on the 20th, didn’t hear anything until today, but good news obviously. Opened five new bank accounts last year, probably a dozen credit cards last year and close to two dozen in the past 24 months. Funded $2500 with AAdvantage card, and it is pending but is coded as a purchase and I had set my cash advance limit to $750.

    So I inquired about the $5,000 minimum for both the promotion and to keep it fee free. Essentially asking if it was based on ending balance in the account at the end of the month (31 day statement period I assume, but I didn’t specifically ask that) OR if it was an Average Daily Balance. The latter would require more that $5,000 to be put into the account because there is obviously a lag between account opening/funding with $2,500 and the time in which we receive the routing/account #’s and then another lag to funnel money into the account. I’ve posted what they sent me via SM below.

    “The average daily balance of $5,000.00 is calculated with the ending balance each day and divided by the days in the month. As long as the average total for the month is greater than $5,000.00, you will not be assessed the maintenance fee and you will meet the qualifications for the promotion.”

    I now believe it is the latter scenario and requires more than $5,000 to be put into the account as soon as possible. In my specific situation I’m going to put $10k into it for the remainder of the first month/ASAP.

    Also, if it wasn’t already explicitly stated, I think this clearly spells out that the $5k is necessary to both keep it fee free AND to get the bonus. The fact that this applies to the “fee free” goes against what I was told on the phone (and what I posted earlier on Jan 27th above….sorry for the misinformation).

      So, if my account was opened on the 25th of the month with $2,500, and I was not able to get any more funds into the account until the following month – I would not get the bonus. That doesn’t sound right. Most banks always have a grace period of a month for minimum balances.

    I confirmed via telephone the same regarding the avg daily balance to qualify for the bonus. Divide the end balance each day by the number of days left in the month, (so it must add up to $5,000 or more for each calendar month). He said there is not a 30-day grace period form account opening. Of course a $1000 DD each month also qualifies for the bonus and waives the monthly account fee.

    Any data points on what qualifies for DD?

    At first the bank rep said the bonus is a mastercard gift card and later confirmed it a cash bonus deposited to the checking account.

    I did not have to do anything online to set up estatements. It was automatically set up when I applied for the the checking account.

    The 10 transactions required each month are based on calendar months.

    Sorry, no DD datapoint here.

    What you said about the 10 transactions is very different from what I was told on the phone. I had to order a new card b/c they lost mine due to address being wrong (long story) and I specifically brought up that I was worried about not having enough days available in my “statement” month to complete the 10 transactions. I was told that it is really 30 transactions over the first 90 days…i.e. you can make it up in month 2 if in month 1 you don’t have 10.

    Also (not saying you’re wrong James, just pointing out how what they told you could literally be impossible), say someone applied on the 24th and the account was “opened” on the 26th due to their lag. It then takes 7-10 business days to get the debit card/get the routing number (in order to add more funds to the account), which puts them into February. But the account was opened on the 26th of January. Are they implying that between the 26th of January (a Thur) and the 31st of January (a Tues) that you are required to make 10 bill pay transactions (with the original $2,500 you opened the account with…which then makes it harder to keep the $5k daily balance) or 10 deposits (which I guess would have to be via a mobile app…?) Because you couldn’t hit the 10 debit card transactions in January since you won’t receive your card until February. Essentially, if it truly is based on calendar month they REALLY need to give a grace period of some sort since quite a few people were applying towards the end of the month.

    The vagueness of these requirements is really starting to annoy me. Maybe Quorum got in over their head with the bonus and is now trying to make it damn near impossible to meet the requirements so they don’t have to pay out.

I have a perfect credit rating and enough income. They also charged $5 to my credit card even though the account wasn’t opened. All they could tell me is they would look into it and get back to me…

        3 new accounts in the last 6 mos and 5 total in the last 12. That could be why, but my dad was also denied for the same reason. I don’t believe he has any new bank accounts in the last year, but does have some new credit card accounts if they were looking at that credit report.

Does this mean i have to open a checking account again, and would it mess up the bonus? Is yours the same procedure or you actually received the checking account in the first place? Thanks.

        Did you send a fax? If so, it’s very likely there was some kind of issue with it (ie it was too light). Call them and ask to check if they received your fax.

    Partial DP: I triggered a transfer from CapitalOne 360 to the Quorum account, of $1000, it showed up today as this:
    Entry Class Code: PPD ACH Trace

    Not sure if this helps anyone to determine if this will code as DD, but the statement should in theory close on the 18th. I will report back when I know more.

    Also, it will be almost halfway through the first statement by the time I can send funds to my checking account. I’m thinking of sending $5K (for a total account balance of $7500) to be safe. How much did you guys transfer in?

      Yes, that is your account number to use for setting up the transfer.

      I transferred an additional $3300 on top of the original $2500. That will give me enough to pay some bills, make some debit purchases and still keep an average daily balance of $5000 they require to avoid the monthly fee. Of course the amount you need to transfer depends on how much you plan on paying out of the account to meet the 30 transactions.

      Based on my conversation with them, what they consider a transaction to be for meeting the bonus requirement seems wide open. Besides bill pays, debit transactions, credit transactions, ACH deposits/ withdrawals and direct deposits should all count. I’m even wondering if the test deposits to setup ACH transfers will count since their coding looks pretty close to the others, hope so. Time will tell.

      It depends on the external account procedure for the external bank or financial institution. If these are trial deposits, it can take from 1-3 business days before they appear on Quorum.

          Why not just use your external account and avoid Quorum? I guess it depends on your external bank, but as long as they have a free transfer system (like Ally) then it’s easy enough to do all of the pushing and pulling from the external bank.

      Then you’ll see a few tabs available.
      Click the Accounts tab.
      You’ll see the external bank waiting to be verified.

    My account was opened on Jan 22.
    I had a call with support person from Quorum and as per her the day account is opened you need to maintain $5000 in balance to which i said that it is unrealistic as you only allow $2500 with CC and also I did not have my account number until week after my account was opened. I am not sure if i will get the bonus or not. But I still have $7k sitting in the account. Also did 30 Amazon transactions as of today.

    DD from Chase of 1k+.

      You’ve got the two requirements mixed up. To get the bonus you have to make 10 or more transactions per month for the first three consecutive months or 30 transactions over the first 90-day period, after account opening.

      Since you’ve done 30 transactions already and Quorum considers them transactions for the bonus (Amazon), you’ll get the bonus within 120 days.

      To avoid the monthly fee is where you have to maintain the $5,000 daily balance (or $1,000 direct deposit) and since you opened it on Jan 22 you probably won’t meet that requirement for January.

      They do waive the fee for the 1st month (I opened mine on Jan 29 and didn’t get a fee on my January statement) and even if they charged you a fee, it would only cost you $10 for that month.

    I got hit twice with $2,500 CC funding. First time was at account opening and reflected in my checking account. The second time happened three weeks later. The charge posted just now. Would be nice to have free MS but the charge isn’t credited to my checking account. I’ll have to wait until Monday to call them but has this happened to anyone else?

      I have not seen anything similar to this. Wait until the 2nd charge posts to your CC and then send a SMS or call.

      If the 2nd charge is only pending, may disappear and not post to your CC>

        The 2nd charge posted to my card last week. So they charged me $5,000 and only credited me $2,500. I called them and got no help. They said to upload a screen shot of the second charge and message them online. I did and got a response stating the 2nd charge came because of a duplicate application. Now here’s the kicker. Instead of just crediting me the amount of refunding it back to the card, they said it’s easier if I just dispute it through my credit card. WTF. That’s what I did. Makes no sense to me.

    bummer, learned that my opened acct is a basic savings instead of chkg…when clicking on the direct link to apply for the intended Qchoice chkg acct, the default selection was a savings acct rather than chkg; spoke with quorum rep who said that i should have selected the edit button to change to a different acct; so no bonus, now just xfer funds out or do bil pay…oh well, careless on my part, but at least the$2.5K initial funding did help meet CC min spend

      Basic savings is always included with any CU bank account application. QFCU will pay $5 into your savings account for getting you started.
      For the bonus you also had to select the QChoice checking which is quite prominently displayed on the application page.
      I have learned from mistakes that it is very important to read everything on the application page. Now I even take screenshot of every page while applying.
      Hope this helps someone.

      I had the same problem, but thankfully I caught it quick enough that they fixed it, saying they will still honor the promo with me. I was literally signing up for the account within the last 10 minutes of the promo, so I completely missed selecting the right account type.

    Now that we’ve received a couple statements since account opening, anyone have a DP on what triggers a direct deposit for Quorum (besides the usual “real” direct deposit made by an employer or a federal or state government agency).

    Has anyone who used an ACH transfer of $1,000 instead of the “real” direct deposit been charged a monthly fee?

      I messaged Quorum about this same issue and received the following back from them:

      “There is not grace period offered before a monthly maintenance fee is charged to the account. If the guidelines cannot be met the first month, a fee will be charged to the account”.

      If this CSR knows what she’s talking about, then looks like those who have done a direct deposit via ACH transfer of $1,000 and haven’t gotten a fee yet have met the requirements.

    Question for you guys, what were you using for your Direct Deposit or were you keeping at least $5K in the account?

    Also, were you doing bill pays from the Quorum website or just via your credit card? I assume since their definition of transactions included pretty much anything, I did it via CC.

      I have $5k there. I’m going to try to downgrade my account next month and move that money. I started using them for a promo 1.65% CD a couple years ago. Then stayed for their 1% savings and unlimited external bank linking. But their savings rates kept jumping around, I moved most of my cash to Alliant. I’ll keep my Quorum accounts, but the bulk of my money is somewhere else for now.

        It may happen right away. I had to message again the next day as the account name had not changed. Was told it was done and I could change the account nickname myself. I think if you check the account details for the interest rate (is 0.00% for Classic), you should be able to tell if it has changed.

          For some reason I never got notification that you replied back to me so I assumed you didn’t.

          Your instructions were good except the Quick Links is actually on the left side of the screen.

          Your tip about checking the interest rate was very helpful as it does indeed show 0% now (not .1% like before) so I don’t have to message them and I can transfer most of the money out. Thanks.

            That’s odd as I’m 99% sure it showed .1% before I downgraded but unfortunately I didn’t do a print screen before the downgrade. In this case maybe I should SM them to confirm the downgrade before transferring the money out.

    I set up small ACH transfers to go into and out of the account at least 10 days each month since I opened my account on January 18th. Those should qualify as “deposits and withdrawals”, shouldn’t they?

      Further down on the offer page it says you must satisfy the following requirements:

      “10 or more transactions per month for the first three consecutive months or 30 transactions over the first 90-day period”

      That would cover 30 transactions in the first month.

      Opened 1/20 but funds didn’t post until 1/25 which is the date I’m going from when counting the days until the bonus should be credited. In all honesty I’ll probably wait until my statement closes at the end of the month just to be sure I’ve cleared any possible points of issuance and customer support can’t waste time telling me to wait longer. Hoping it’ll be issued right at or around the deadline but this is starting to feel a little like Citibank 2.0.

        Thanks for the update. Definitely not a good sign but I have a hard time believing it’s because of the pinless debit issue because I’d have to imagine others who were successful also used Amazon for example. Hopefully others can chime in here.

        My guess is this has to due with the 30+ not being spread out evenly between 10+ for three consecutive months. Were yours not 10+ per month for 3 months? I completed 30+ within a month and a half so if it doesn’t post, which appears likely, I’m going to have to chase this until hopefully they make good on the offer sooner rather than later.

        The more everyone shares data points on this the better.

          – account funded first week of February
          – did 10 Amazon reload mid-February
          – did another 20 Amazon reloads on March 1st
          – $5k parked in the account since opening

          Still no bonus. Technically they still have another couple of weeks to post my bonus though (120 days after account opening), but I agree it doesn’t look good since it seems many have received it already.

    I just initiated a transfer from my downgraded Quorum checking account to my external account. It said that an error occurred. I refreshed the page to try again and saw that only my savings account was there and my checking account had disappeared.

    I received an email that my checking account was “deleted”. Has this happened to anyone else? Of course they just happened to be closed tomorrow and Monday due to the holiday. I guess I will send them a SM to find out what happened.

      False alarm. I just logged back into Quorum to SM them and saw that my account was back. I would recommend everyone wait at least a day to transfer the money out.

        Sounds like a maintenance thing or just a random bug. I remember once I logged into my Citi biz cc and it showed someone else’s account! I should have got a ss as it went back to normal after I clicked on a link.

      I’m waiting for my $1k transfer and subsequent withdraw to $0 balance and then I’ll close the account, probably in a week or so. I like to play it safe and have at least half a month to close the account and have any fees for that statement cycle already covered.

            I know, seems that once an account is closed, most people no longer check or respond back to questions to help out others. Guess we’re on our own.

            I plan on closing my account once the July statement comes out and will try via SM first (was able to close a savings account I had with them earlier this year via SM so hoping that will work for the checking also).

            I’ll post once I find out anything.

      I tried messaging them to close the account but they required calling in. Called and as others have said, very easy procedure to close and they will even send the free $5 they gave me to when the account was opened.

    Question for anyone still looking at this thread, I got the automatic $5 for the savings account, but it has never become as available funds. Is there a magic trick to getting the $5?
