[Expired] New Citi American Airlines 50,000 Mile No 24 Month Language Link

Unfortunately this link has now expired.

The Offer

Direct link to offer

  • Citi / AAdvantage Platinum Select World Elite MasterCard is offering 50,000 miles after $3,000 in spend within the first three months.

Card Details

  • Annual fee of $95 is waived the first year
  • Does not contain 24 month language

Our Verdict

The old link we posted has now died but reddit user Rossbolton87 has posted this new link. This offer does not contain the 24 month language that would exclude you from getting the bonus if you’ve had any other Citi American Airlines card within the last 24 months. In the past these links have successfully worked to get the bonus, this is a new link though so no hard data points that I am aware of. Before applying read these things you should know about Citibank.

Normally I wouldn’t post these publicly but given they are already on reddit I don’t see the harm in sharing them with our readers. Don’t draw unnecessary attention to this offer by calling in and asking if you will be eligible for the bonus or not. All that does is alert Citi that you aren’t eligible under the normal and make it less likely you’ll get the bonus. Remember to not forget matched to the 60,000 offer as well.

I applied using previous link which was published in reddit and here in Dec 2016 . I got the welcome mail with 50K AA offer but my Citi account does not show the bonus tracker. Dont know if i will get the bonus or not but still on traclk to finish $3k spend by end of this month.

    • Mikhail says:

I’m in basically the same situation, except a citi rep said (I didn’t ask) that the second bonus was attached to my account.

      • david says:

CSR said,”24 month language is on the Citi website not on the application”, so no bonus. I was approved but backed out.

  2. Reaper of Credit says:

    aaaand it’s dead.

  3. P says:

Got denied by Citi again for this card. Hmmm.

  4. JP says:

I got snail mail offer for 60k with NO 24 month language which is valid till 3/15/17. Should I used that invitation code to apply or go through this?

  5. larry says:

Hmmm, got the offer, but it was for 60k and $3k spend. Not sure if I want to waste a hp on this if there could be better offers?

  6. Niel says:

    Applied, went to pending.

  7. JJ says:

Applied and instantly approved. Now let’s hope the bonus happens.

  8. sirtheta says:

Small but important note: there are many DPs of people SMing Citi and getting matched to 60k.

  9. Charles says:

Got to use the old link 3 weeks ago. Everything appears to be on track with that. Tried the new link just now. App went to pending. Had to call and move credit. Approved without problems. CSR never mentioned bonus or 24 month rules. Hope it all works. Thanks Doc!

  10. Abey says:

Here is another Citi Card with no 24 month language.
Citi Hilton 40K points after 1K spend within 4 months and no annual fee.
How to find it? If you click on this link

It will take you to Citi’s pre-qualified offers and just type in your info and even if you dont pre-qualify for anything it will show you the regular Citi credit cards you can apply for and among them is the Citi Hilton with no 24 month language.

    Here is a screen shot

  11. Kyle says:

Any DP’s of people actually receiving bonus from the last link?

  12. Kyle says:

Can someone help me out here…

Applied with 1st link on 1/7 and was asked to call up for moving around credit. Rep brought up on his own that I already have an AA card and I would not get bonus. I’m a newb and got scared so I said ok, don’t open account. I read up a lot more on here and reddit and applied again on 1/10 which seemed to be an obvious mistake as I was instantly denied. Received letter stating multiple credit requests or something along those lines. I had about 30k in CL across 3 Citi cards and I reduced them all to about 15k total. So I’ve waited now and it’s 1/20 and just applied with this 2nd link and got instant denied again. What’s wrong?

    • Eric says:

Dude you got denied because you tried to apply for more than 1 card in 8 days. You first applied on 1/7, decided to listen to the CSR (which you never do…since they don’t know anything) and cancelled your application unnecessarily and wasted an application and then tried to apply on 1/10. Do a google search for the “Citi 8/65” rule to understand why you were denied. There are enough DPs to prove that whatever link you apply, those terms stand regardless of what any CSR says.

Had you waited until at least 1/16 and tried to apply again you would have had more success. Either way it seems like you had problems with shifting credit the first time so I don’t know why you even tried to apply again and expected success unless you did something like reduce CLs on your other cards before you tried to apply on 1/10 and 1/20.

      • Kyle says:

I reduced my credit lines before applying today, 1/20. So how long do I have to wait now? 65 days I guess.

        • Eric says:

why not just call citi recon line to see what they say. Do not get into a discussion with the CSR about not getting the sign up bonus even if they see you have 2 AA cards.

Even if the CSR insists on saying you won’t get the sign up bonus, who the F cares what they say. Just do whatever it takes to get the application approved even if it means shifting more credit to get it approved. Just do not throw away another application until you have tried everything.

          • Raul says:

Kyle u shouldn’t have lowered ur credit limit in my opinion, should have just shifted credit limit from existing credit cards to new card u were trying to open. Now that u have less credit available u might not get approved. If i were u I would take a couple moths off of applications and read up a lil bit. Seems like ur trying to run before u got walking down. Make sure u know what u did wrong before u try and fix the problem. All of Eric’s advise is right but it may be a little advanced if ur truly new to this.

  13. ryan says:

Is it crazy to want to applt for a 2nd aa card? It’s very tempting. I got approved on 1/9. Any suggestions will help. thanks

  14. Kevo says:

Do I get the signup bonus if I currently have the same card?

  15. Keev says:

If I currently have the same card, am I ineligible for the bonus by applying a second card?

  16. Brian says:

I got approved on 1/9. Should I apply for another one?

  17. MichaelP says:

Applied and approved after calling in once I got the pending email.

Representative mentioned 50k bonus, I closed an AA card Jan 2016.

  18. Raul says:

If it’s been more than 8 days u should be able to apply for a second card. I currently have 2 citi AA cards and got the bonus for both cards since there was nothing in the T&C saying I couldn’t get the bonus more than once in 24 months.

  19. wolfgang says:

But it also says “This offer is only valid for new accounts”.
So if you already have a card (we’ve had one for 2 years) wouldn’t you be excluded from getting the bonus?

    • Raul says:

New account means new card to me. Although ur using the same Aadvantage ur technically a new account since ur getting a new account number/credit card number.

  20. Humberto Rodriguez says:

    I got pending as well…..

  21. Logan says:

Can anyone comment on getting approved for a 2nd aa personal card if I signed up for AA personal and AA business on same day, 9 days ago. Would this put me at 2 already or only 1? I am seeing conflicting information across the board.

    • Logan says:

Confirmed denial will occur. It’s 2 any Citi cards in 65 days. But can do personal and business on same day, 2 pulls but can go through.

  22. Tom says:

Am I understanding correctly to call in for this and just move credit limits around?

Thank you __________for applying for Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World EliteTM MasterCard®.

Your application is pending further review and we need additional information from you. Please call 1-866-606-2787 now to receive an immediate decision.

Please have your application ID———————— available when you call.

If you call now and your application is approved, your card will arrive in the mail within 7-10 business days.

    • Logan says:

yes i would call asking to get the card approved but dont mention the bonus at all. Count on the letter for proof if you need it not the CSR. I would only move the credit around if they ask you to for approval. Gl

  23. John S says:

I just applied and was approved. The T&C didn’t include any reference to the 24months rule and clearly stated than the annual fee was waived for the first year.
However, the summary page showing your credit limit and APR doesn’t mention the bonus nor the fact the fee is waived:

    Citi® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® World EliteTM MasterCard®
    Annual Fee: $95.00
    Credit Limit: $XX,000.00
Purchase APR: XX.XX%. This APR will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate.
Balance Transfer APR: XX.XX% for transfers completed within 2 months from date of account opening. This APR will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate.
Balance Transfer Fee: Either $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater.

Thinking to call to confirm the bonus is waived even though it’s probably the best way to raise concerns. I have no need of this card without the bonus and the fee waived…

  24. Ryan says:

Did the link from December have this langauage “This offer is only valid for new accounts”.

  25. Kiwiboy says:

I used the Dec 26th link and was approved with no 24 month language. The welcome letter mentioned the 50000 bonus with $3000 spend. I just had my statement post and it has the 50000 bonus miles on it.

  26. TT says:

Did anyone have to close their 1st AA card (before applying again) in order to get approved for the 2nd one? Thanks!

  27. Jake N says:

Data point – currently have 2 AA open, applied for a 3rd (my 4th total, one of which I downgraded last year) in the last 2 years.

    12/2014 – downgraded 3/2016
    1/2016 – still open
    1/2017 – still open

Got pending and called recon, strangely, they were able to offer me more credit off the bat ($5k) without moving CL around than my 3rd AA card from last month (only offered $2k originally).

We’ll see what comes in the mail.

  28. TravellerAtoZ says:

SO and I were both approved through this link yesterday after a recon call (We both have had the card twice before in the past year). My rep happily said that the sign on bonus is 50k points after $3k spend. Her rep reminded her that she just got another copy of the card a month ago and can only get the bonus every 24 months. She dutifully responded “yes that’s fine.” =) We’ll see what happens.

  29. Rahul says:

Has anyone gotten the bonus points confirmed/posted (24 month rule not applied as per this offer?)

  30. Cheryl says:

Applied for husband today. He was approved after calling in. But rep stated he would not get bonus as he closed a similar card last fall. I still had him get the card in the hopes she was wrong.

Anyone still get the bonus miles after being told this?

    • foxea says:

I opened the exact same card in July 2015 and closed it in June 2016. I used this link to open a new card on Dec 27 2016. I have got the 60k miles (50k + 10k matched) in Feb 2017.

  31. henry says:

applied and pending. called the number, the CSR said need to move some credit line from other card. I said just set the CL to 5k instead of 16.5k. then approved. at the end, she mentioned that I will get 50k miles after 3k spending in 3months (no I didn’t ask this at all).

I applied first one at 1/9 and was approved after moving some credit.

  32. Gloria says:

Since the language says “This offer is valid for new accounts only”, doesn’t that mean if you currently have the card then you’re ineligible for the bonus? Not referring to applying twice for this card outside the 8-day rule. But if you’re a long time card holder, sounds like you’re not a new account and therefore are precluded from the bonus, doesn’t it? Or are there any data points that disprove my concern? Thanks.

  33. TD says:

yesterday (2-09-17) I have applied my first AA miles it approved after calling recon. can I apply second one after 8 days for second bonus.

  34. PJ says:

So even though I just opened a Citi AA card last month, I can do it again this month and receive an additional bonus?

  35. mac says:

Tried applying this morning and got the following message immediately after hitting submit:

We’re very sorry. AccountOnline is temporarily unavailable. Please stop by later. For immediate assistance with an existing account, call the number on the back of your card. We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience. [Citi005]

Anyone else ever received this message? I assume this means the application did not go through. DoC, would you or anyone else agree I should try again later today or tomorrow? Thanks in advance.

  36. Miz says:

Does anybody have a definite positive or negative data point about getting (or not getting) the 50K bonus after applying using this or the previous no 24 month language link?

    • foxea says:

I opened the exact same card in July 2015 and closed it in June 2016. I used this link to open a new card on Dec 27 2016. I have got the 60k miles (50k + 10k matched) in Feb 2017.

  38. Abey says:

Link is dead, it comes up system error, was fun while it lasted!
7 weeks later and i got 126,000 AA points for swiping $6,000 and not even an annual fee 🤣👍👏😂
(Was thinking to go for round 3 in 2 weeks after the 2/65 🙈

  39. Liz says:

I applied for this on 2/18, when link was still live. My app went pending. I called, they said they didn’t need anything and I’d hear something in a week. I received an email with a link to check my application status, and since Sunday it has said, “A system error has caused a delay in processing your application. Please try again later.” No new inquiries on my credit reports. I wonder if I lost out…

  40. DP says:

This link working again..! applied and got approved after recon. got to move credit line from other account.

  41. celeste5615 says:

DP: Applied and instantly approved on 2/1. This was my second AA platinum card in 4 months. 60k points were in my account on 3/8 (the day after the statement on which I met the minimum spend closed).

  42. Logan says:

How do these no 24 month links even happen? Like how do people find them. Seems like someone inside Citi leaking it. Anyways I hope another no 24 month personal link happens. I’m finally 0/65!! Please Citi, leak it one more time..
