How To Check Your Credit Card Application Status With Each Issuer

When you apply for a credit card, you’ll either be instantly approved, instantly denied or the application will go to pending. Below we will share the online links to check your application status with each credit card issuer.

If you were denied, all hope is not lost. You can call reconsideration and plead your case to get that denial turned into an approval, you can view the reconsideration numbers for each of the credit card issuers by clicking here. You can read our tips for reconsideration phone calls here. You can also view what cards you’re pre-approved for with each issuer here.

sort of OT… i forgot the answer to this…c an we apply for two Amex biz cards in a day? if not, how many days in between? Thanks.

  2. TomT says:

The BofA status checking site seems to be very inconsistent. It used to always show the correct status for both me and my wife. After we each submitted applications for some of their business cards, all of which were eventually approved, it started to return “The information you entered does not match our records. Please enter your personal information as it appears on your submitted application.” However, occasionally, after a business card was approved, our status would appear, only to revert back to the error message when no other cards were pending. Has anyone else had this experience?

The question is should I call? I am waiting to hear back from Chase on a CSR (probably not going to get it as I think I’m over 5/24). Would calling stir the pot and make someone look at it and decline it that normally woudln’t have?

    Greetings William!

Several banks applications online have been denied because of unable Verify Identity (Specifically Santander Bank, M&T, PNC Bank, and Ocean First Bank). None of those applications have been asking for Identity Verification, as the ones that sometimes are asked for CC (regarding Credit Report info). I am 100% positive that all the info is completely accurate. My ChexSystem and Credit Bureaus info are fine. No negative info whatsoever. As far as you know, is there any way that I can fix this? Thank you!

    • What happens when you call them? They won’t be pulling traditional credit reports, most likely ChexSystems, EWS or Lexus Nexus instead.

      • JC says:

They refer me to go to a branch. I would have to do that, but I would like to fix this, mostly in order to take advantage of the CC funding when opening an accnt online.

I do know that Chex info is accurate. Will have to verify EWS and Lexus Nexus as you mentioned. I have been able to open several online bank accnts from TD, Citizens, BofA, Discover, and Wells Fargo.

I wonder what the ones in which I had the Identity Verification issue have in common in the application process, in order for like I said to fix it. Thanks William!

While trying to get the status of my Cathay application, I was given the direct number for Synchrony credit analysts 855-305-9906 before getting transferred there. Now I’m in the middle of the Pacific so can’t call to verify if that number actually works but could be helpful to some.

Just noticed the application status checker on Chase website. It appears that you have to be signed into your existing account online, then you can use this link:

Alternatively, once signed in, go to Manage Accounts link under Customer Center on the right hand side. From there, scroll to the bottom on the right hand side and you should see NEW! Check my application(s) status under Open a New Account.

    • Dave says:

Doesn’t seem to track business card applications. I have one pending, but the message is “You don’t have any active Chase applications at this time”. I am logged into an account with access to both business and personal accounts.

    • Dusty says:

It should be noted that this only works for those still on the old UI/layout. I don’t have my biz cards linked right now, and can’t find the equivalent of this. There is an application status item in the left slide-out drawer, but it appears to only be for auto loans and mortages.

  7. Ian says:

Calling the Chase number asked me to enter my SSN, and after I did it transferred me to a live representative… which was surprising since I was trying to get the automated status message.
